Dale Wayne Kankey, 80 of Independence, MO passed away Friday, November 22, 2019 at St. Mary’s Village in Blue Springs, MO. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055 with burial to follow in Lobb Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m., until service time Tuesday at the chapel. Dale was born July 23, 1939 in Calico Rock, AR to Arthur Austin and Lola Emma (Hammond) Kankey. He grew up in Calico Rock and graduated from high school there before going to work for the Prier Brass Manufacturing Company as a Helium Arch Welder for 40 years before he retired. He had also worked as an auctioneer and Sheriff as well as working for Automatic Systems prior to his retirement. He enjoyed collecting guns, knives and pocket watches and liked going to gun shows and was a member of the NRA. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed being outdoors. Survivors include; a daughter, Joy Schulte of Blue Springs, MO; 2 grandchildren, Brandolyn Jolene “Brandy” Keele and husband Jefferson and Jeremy Schulte and wife Emily and 3 great grandchildren, Aiden, Carson and Kyzer. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara in 2004, a son, Jason Kankey in 1999, his parents, a son-in-law, Brian Schulte in 1997 and 2 brothers, Dee and Billy.
