Karen Margaret Ostrander

Karen Margaret Ostrander, 79 of Independence, MO passed away Sunday, November 12, 2023 at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, MO.  Cremation is planned and a private memorial service is pending.  Karen was born July 4, 1944 in Creston, IA and graduated from Creston High School in 1963. She had worked in the billing department for Farmland Industries for over 25 years until she retired in 2006.  She enjoyed crafting, crocheting and baking.  She was a member of the Everlasting Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Independence, MO.  She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Ostrander of the home; a son, David Ostrander and wife Barbara of Navarre, FL; a daughter, Tammy Ostrander-Brown and husband Geoffrey Brown of Independence, MO; 2 sisters, Helen Onstot and husband Chester of Indianola, IA and Deanna White of Harrisonville, MO and a granddaughter, Sarah Bass of Independence, MO.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert W. and Margaret (Conner) Hanke and a brother Richard Schofield.
