Donald James Kasmerchek, 71, Independence, MO passed away Jan. 22, 2018. Services will be 10 am, Tuesday, Jan. 30 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052; interment at Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 pm, Monday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to Outreach International, 129 W. Lexington Ave, Independence, MO 64050.
Don was born May 11, 1946 in Maryville, MO. He graduated from William Chrisman High School and then earned his Bachelor’s degree from Graceland College. He was the owner of Kasmo’s Catering and had catered many events at Community of Christ World Headquarters including a dinner for Anwar Sadat’s wife when she received the first Peace Prize awarded by the church. Recently while a resident at The Groves he was still was cooking and catering for the Men’s Club there. He was a member of the Stone Church congregation.
Don is survived by his wife of forty-two years Mary Kasmerchek and son Robbie Kasmerchek, both of the home; sister-in-law Joanne Hankins, Independence, MO; brother-in-law William Sanner and wife Lynda, Warsaw, IN; nephews Eric and Josh, Muncie , IN; and cousin Kenneth Echternacht, Florida.
