Clarence Harold Kearney, fondly known as Snappy or Shorty to family, 90, of Independence, MO, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2012 at his home of over 60 years. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 28, 2012 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. There will be a rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday evening with visitation to follow, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel 1501 W. Lexington Avenue, Independence, MO 64052. Harold was born March 1, 1922 in Flemington, MO to Charles and Fern (Smith) Kearney. He lived a simple life, was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and a good neighbor. He served his country as a proud American in World War II as a member of the Army Air Force. A hard worker, most of his career was spent working for Country Club, Sealtest, Fairmont, Foremost and Adams dairies. He will always be remembered for his jokes, his smile, his love of cars, and love of dessert. He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife of 65 years Theresa. He is survived by seven sons and five daughters: Charles Kearney (Shirley) of Kansas City, MO; Bob Kearney (Peggy) of Lee’s Summit, MO; Richard Kearney, and Greg Kearney (Georgia Saunders) of Independence, MO; Mark Kearney (Kerry) of Peculiar, MO; John Kearney, and Brian Kearney (Peggy) of Dallas, TX; Betty Harralson Unrein, Donna Pittman, Rita O’Donnell (Barney) and Barbara Kearney, all of Independence; Virginia Parker (Dennis) of Lee’s Summit; 2 sisters Suella Reed (Marvin), and Mary Ann Jennings (Chet) of Lee’s Summit; 16 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren,5 step grandchildren, and 10 step great grandchildren.
