Harold Thomas Keck “Tom” age 79, went to be with his Lord on March 27, 2022 surrounded by his wife Darline and his loving family members. A visitation will be held Friday, April 1st at 9:30 a.m. with funeral to follow at 10:30 a.m. Following the burial service friends and family are invited to Coventry Estates Baptist church for lunch.
Tom was born in Kansas City, Missouri on July 30, 1942. He is a 1960 graduate of Southeast High School. He continued those friendships later in his life with class reunions and monthly breakfast with “the guys”.
In 1960 he joined the U.S. Army and served both actively and in the reserves for eight years. He achieved the military rank of Sergeant. He was proud to be a U.S. Army Veteran and was honored with a Veteran Recognition that was provided by Crossroads Hospice. After the Army he attended CMSU where he earned a dual degree with a BS in Biology and a BS in Sociology. Tom was in Sales as a District Manager for Pepsi Cola for 20 years and in Sales at Coca Cola for 13 years.
In 1983 he married the love of his life and best friend, Darline. They were together for 38 wonderful years. They spent many fun years camping and fishing together. They also enjoyed trips to Branson, Missouri to attend the Gospel and Country music shows. One of Tom’s favorite places was the Butterfly Palace where he had the privilege of releasing a new butterfly on their anniversary. He loved to watch the different birds that came to his bird feeder, outside his window year round and the beautiful humming birds in the summer time.
Tom became a member of Coventry Estates Baptist Church in 2009. He and Darline were active members, enjoying many activities. He loved to say they were taking that walk of faith together. He was known for his friendly, welcoming smile.
He is preceded in death by his father, Byron Keck, mother, Gladys Roberts, Step mother, Pearl Keck, brother, Tim, sister, Judy and son, Chris Keck.
Tom is survived by his wife of 38 years, Darline, brother, David (Carol), sister, Loretta, children, Lisa, Tricia, Mike, Pam Evans (Greg) and Jeff Canterbury (Vicki), numerous beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, was blessed with one great-great-grandson, and nieces.
Services will be held at Carson Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington, Independence, Missouri Burial will follow at Mt Washington Cemetery.
Contributions may be made in Tom’s name to the church he loved, Coventry Estates Baptist Church.
