Sharon Jeanine Keeler, 79, of Independence, MO passed away January 4, 2016 at KU Medical Center. Visitation will be from 6-7pm, Thursday, January 7, 2016 at E. 39th St. Community of Christ Church. A memorial Service will follow at 7pm at the Church. Sharon was born on May 21, 1936 in Des Moines, IA to Herbert and Nina (Loper) Kelly. As a young child the family moved to Los Angeles, CA. While in high school Sharon met the love of her life, Brad Keeler. When she left to go to college at Graceland in Lamoni, IA, Brad followed to win her heart! They were later married on October 29, 1955 in South Gate, CA. After the birth of their 2 daughters, they moved to the Independence area. Both Brad and Sharon were employed with the Community of Christ World Headquarters, Sharon as an administrative assistant. After retirement, life just got busier for Sharon! For over 40 years she was a Sunday School teacher, Girl’s Leader for both the Skylarks and the Oriole’s, a longtime volunteer with the Independence Police Department in the VIPS program, and a Christian Companion at the Groves. She also loved the KC Chiefs, and was a season ticket holder for over 40 years. Sharon was truly born with a servant’s heart, and was always looking for ways to help others. Survivors include; husband Brad Keeler; daughters Shari (Bill) Rector, and Christy (Jeff) Kranz; sister, Joyce Middleton; 4 granddaughters; 3 great grand-children and a host of extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association in Sharon’s memory.
