Doug Keller, 70, passed away Thursday, July, 19, 2012 at his home. A Memorial Visitation will be held 6-8:00 p.m. Friday, July 27th, 2012 at Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO.
Doug was born March 4, 1942, in Greensburg, KS to Louie and Ernestine Keller. His first wife was Virginia Hays. Later he happily married Sandra (Mills) Keller. Douglas graduated from Kansas University with a Bachelors Degree and a MFA Degree. He was an accomplished Professor of Art at Coffeyville Community College in Coffeyille, KS. He also taught art at Columbia College, Columbia, MO, and University of Missouri. Doug loved photography and many other arts. In retirement, he continued his painting and sketches. Douglas recently had a successful showing of his art work at the Orr Street Studios, Columbia, MO.
Doug is survived by his wife, Sandra of the home; son, Kevin Keller of Chicago, IL; daughter, Emily Keller of Seattle, WA; grandchildren, Alex and Amber; one great grandson, Kumani; brother, Philip Keller of East Hampton, MA; step daughters, Kristi Sanchez of Lee’s Summit, MO and Vicki Peyton of Gardner, KS; and three step grandsons.
