Robert H. Kelley, 84, of Sugar Creek, MO passed away Friday, May 23, 2014. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 27th at Carson Speaks Chapel. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 28th at the chapel. Burial will be at Mt. Washington Cemetery, Independence, MO.
Bob was born August 10, 1929 to Robert W. and Bessie L. (Skinner) as one of four children. He attended Bristol Elementary, whose alumni still met once a month for fellowship, and later graduated from high school. On June 30, 1950 he married Bonnie (Jones) and together they raised four children. Bob was co-owner with his brother and father, of the family’s company, R.W. Kelley & Sons, established in Englewood since 1939. Prior to he had worked for the railroad as well as the foundry. Bob had been a pro-bowler for the Kansas City Stars for many years and also enjoyed golfing. He was a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 3717. His family remembers him as fun- loving, happy, and a friend to every stranger.
Bob is survived by son, Timothy Kelley (Karen) of Harrisonville, MO; daughter, Brenda L. Zoller (Chris) of Independence, MO; sons, Patrick and Michael Kelley of the home, MO; ten grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Bryant (Don) of Ocala, FL; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him. He was preceded in death by infant son, Thomas H. Kelley; brother, Paul Kelley; sister, Jeanette Deming; his parents; and his beloved wife, Bonnie (1999). The family encourages contributions to the Groves Community Hospice; as well as the Groves Nursing Home in his memory.
