Gerald Kendrick, 78, of Independence, MO passed away October 17, 2018. A visitation will be held from 1-2:00 PM followed by a 2:00 PM service on Monday, Oct. 22nd at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E 39th St., Independence, MO. Private burial will follow at a later date. Gerald was born July 11, 1940 to William and Ruth Kendrick (Martin) in Wooldridge, MO. He attended St. Mary’s High School in Independence, MO. Following graduation, Gerald enlisted in the Navy and proudly served for three years. Professionally, he oversaw cable installation as a Foreman for AT&T. Later in life, to fulfill a personal goal, Gerald enrolled in college and received his bachelor’s degree in Management from Park University. He enjoyed fishing, hunting pheasant and quail, working out, discovering his family genealogy and was a “die-hard” Nascar fan. He was a member of the Missouri City Masonic Lodge for over 50 years, as well as a member of the American Legion Tirey J Ford Post 21. Gerald was also a Baptist by faith. Gerald is survived by his loving wife Phyllis Kendrick (Staggs); daughter Rachel Cox (Michael); grandson Austin Cox; granddaughter Lindsey Cox; a sister Winnie Morgan; Aunts Nadine Hickam and Helen Howell; and two estranged sisters. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister Gwendolyn Stuart; and son Mark Kendrick.
