William J. "Buck� Kendrick, 87 of Independence, MO passed away Thursday, June 22, 2006 at the Carmel Hills Health Center. Services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 26, 2006 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial with full military honors will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Sunday evening at the chapel. Buck was born June 6, 1919 in New Franklin, MO to Alvin and Agusta (Heckerman) Kendrick. He was a decorated U.S. Army veteran having served in the South Pacific Campaign during WWII. He worked as a truck driver and mechanic and retired as a manager of Kaw Transport in Pleasant Valley, MO after 38 years in 1982. He was married to Ruth Martin; she preceded him in death on February 27, 2000. Survivors include; 3 daughters, Winnie Scruggs-Clutter of Stover, MO, Sharon & Dennis Gardner of Owasso, OK and Debbie & Tom Rockers of Independence, MO; a son, Jerry & Phyllis Kendrick of Independence, MO; 2 sisters, Nadine Hickam of Jamestown, MO and Helen Howell of Parkville, MO; 13 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Gwen Stuart in 1999 and a granddaughter, Michelle Rockers in 1989.
