Jerome Duer “Jerry” Kennedy, 86, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, August 2nd, 2022, at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas.
Jerry was born on April 22, 1936, in Kansas City, Missouri to Curtis and Florence Kennedy. He attended and graduated from Glennon High School and took courses from Rockhurst. Jerry enlisted in the US Army in October 1955 and served during peace time in Europe returning October 1958. He started working for General Motors in 1965 where he continued until retirement. In December of 1958 Jerry met the love of his life Judith Miller and they wed in 1959, from their union came 5 children. In his free time, he loved to read, listen to music, and spend time with his family and dog, Bella. Jerry was a very witty man with a wonderful sense of humor, spreading joy and laughter everywhere he went. He will be greatly missed.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Judy; daughters, Jana Grika (John), Joy Kennedy; sons, Jon Kennedy (Lisa Rose), Jeffrey Kennedy (Dana), and James Kennedy (Jennifer); fur-baby, Bella; grandchildren, Matthew (Jenny), Danielle (Jonathan), Savanna, Jameson, Megan, Andrew, Justin, and Jacob; great grandchildren, Lillian, Henry, and Ellie; and sister, Carole Ann Baker. He is preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Florence Kennedy.
Visitation, Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will take place Monday, August 8, 2022, at St. Mark Catholic Church, 3736 S Lee's Summit Rd, Independence, MO 64055. Jerry’s family will greet guests between the hours of 10-11am. Rosary will start at 11am with Mass of Christian burial to follow. A private family Inurnment will be held at a later date.
