Long-time resident of Independence, MO, Eddie married his high school sweetheart, Belva Charlene “Chari” Mynatt, on August 1, 1964. He worked as a mechanic at Kansas City Power & Light and retired after 26 years. He was a founding member of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in Lee’s Summit and volunteered countless hours in its formative years. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop 228 with his sons, Andrew and Sam. In his 40 years with the Scouts he supported his sons to get their Eagle Scout rank, served as a Webelos leader, Troop leader & Committee Member, Merit Badge Counselor, and as Camp Site and Maintenance Commissioners at the H. Roe Bartle Boy Scout Reservation. He was a Keeper of the Wampum in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. Despite his humble, hardworking avoidance of the spotlight he was recognized numerous times for his quiet dedication to the Troop, the Reservation and the Heart of America Council.
Preceded in death by his parents Sam & Lucy Mynatt, brother & sister-in-law Wayne & Donna Mynatt, and his sister Janet Morris. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Chari, his two sons & daughters-in-law Andy & Michaelia Mynatt and Sam & Joanne Mynatt, five grandchildren: Rhyann, Calvin (and wife Janet), Emmie, Marvin & Adin, and great-grandson Harvey.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him as the kind, gentle, quiet, generous, hardworking husband, father, grandfather, friend, neighbor, and neighborhood walker and talker to all dogs along the way.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to St. Anne’s Church: 1815 NW Independence Ave. Lee’s Summit, MO 64086, or Troop 228: 821 SE Bluebird, Blue Springs, MO, 64014.
