Marlene Mae Kennon, of Independence, MO, passed away on Wednesday January 5, 2022 at her home. She will be remembered as a generous and loving mother and grandmother. Dogs were always an important part of her life. Marlene enjoyed watching the Royals, Chiefs, and HGTV, but most of all, spending time with her family.
Marlene was born on September 10, 1942 in Marshall, MO to Junior and Goldean (Masters) Kruse. She graduated from Marshall High School and then went on to Missouri Valley College where she obtained a BS degree in Education. She began teaching at Elm Grove Elementary in 1964 and finished out her career there retiring in 1993.
She is survived by her son, Chad Kennon and his wife, Emily of Grain Valley, MO; daughter, Tris Young and her husband, Richard of Buckner, MO; granddaughter, Reese and grandson Maxwell Kennon; sister, Joyce Wittman and nephew, Derek Wittman of Marshall, MO.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Kennon and her parents.
A visitation will be held from 1-2pm on Wednesday, January 12th with a funeral service following at 2:00pm, both at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E 39th St; Independence, MO 64055. Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens in Independence.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Great Pains SPCS or Wayside Waifs in lieu of flowers.
