Gaston Kilgore, 89, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away October 26, 2016, when God called this wonderful man home. A visitation will be held from 9-10:00 a.m. followed by a 10:00 a.m. service on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Burial at Longview Memorial Gardens. Gaston was born August 12, 1927 in Low Gap, AR to Silby and Lillie Kilgore. He was a faithful member of First Assembly of God in Independence. Gaston worked for the American Can Company as a union mechanic/machinist for 30 years before retiring in 1992. He then went on to work for Research Hospital as a Security Guard for about 15 years. In his earlier years, he was a part time Sunday School bus driver for Sheffield Assembly of God Church. Gaston also enjoyed singing and playing his guitar, in church or to anyone who wanted to join him for some pickin' and a grinnin'. Gaston was preceded in death by his Parents, 3 Brothers, Cecil, Gaylord and John Kilgore Son Ronald Kilgore, Grandson Jeremy Dodson and loving wife Dorothy Kilgore of 40 years. Gaston and Dorothy were quite a pair. They had true love and respect for each other and their Faith was at the center of it all. After retirement they took many great trips in their RV and traveled extensively. Dad loved to talk about her and those trips up until his last days with us. They both belonged to and enjoyed the Gideon's International Christian Association to spread the word of God with friends and through bibles they would give to individuals and organizations. Spending time with family was always a highlight in their lives as well. These two are reunited again! Survivors include his daughter, Karen Dodson (husband Linus); stepsons, Ed DeMoss (wife Janice) Ken DeMoss (wife Ursula); daughter-in-law, Sue Kilgore; sister, Oleta Kelley (husband Robert); granddaughter, Jill Dodson Ramirez (husband Jacob); step-grandchildren, Rod DeMoss (wife Joni) Tina Golden (Jason), Tammy Gilliland (Dan), Kimberlee Crone (Ron) Jolene, Mark, Keith and Ken DeMoss; 18 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A special message to Mildred Tanner. Thank you for giving Dad the great gift of friendship over the last year or so at The Benton House. He really cared and thought highly of you. The family would also like to thank The Benton House, St. Lukes East and KC Hospice House for giving Dad the great care he deserved. Finally, many thanks to Janice, Joni and Sherry for their help, love and support.
