A.C. King, Jr. of Independence, MO passed away on March 28, 2018. Visitation will be 9-10 am, April 6, 2018 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Funeral Services will follow at 10 am at the chapel. Inurnment with full Military Honors will be in Missouri State Veteran’s
Cemetery, Higginsville, MO. A.C. was born on August 1, 1948 in Independence, MO to Alfred Sr. and Dora B. (Whitehead) King. In 1965 A.C. left William Chrisman High School to join the Navy and proudly serve his country. During his service, he served two tours in Vietnam earning the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. In 1970 He married the love of his life Cheryl (Helmer) King. They were married for 48 years, and raised 2 daughters. He retired from Allis Chalmers (AGCO) after 28 years of service. After retirement, A.C. went to work for Lake City (ATK) for 10 years. A.C. enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and woodworking. Most importantly A.C. loved spending time with family and friends and was always ready to lend a helping hand when called upon. Survivors include; loving wife Cheryl King; daughters Jeanie King and Janel King; sisters Malinda Affolter and Lori Ryken; a large extended family and many friends. A.C. is preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of sending flowers, the family would like you to consider making a donation to the Veterans of Foreign Wars in A.C.’s memory.
