Richard Jack “Dick” King, 84, Independence, MO passed away Oct. 18, 2015. Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 am, Thursday, Oct. 22 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055, followed by a graveside service at 11:30 am with Full Military Honors at Terrace Park Memorial Gardens. The family requests contributions to the American Cancer Society, 1100 Pennsylvania Ave., Kansas City, MO 64105. Dick was born Jan. 6, 1931 in Sand Springs, OK, graduated from Louisburg, (KS) High School and attended Finlay Engineering College. He was a resident of Independence for nearly fifty years and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and going to horse races. Dick was preceded in death by his wife Patricia King, daughter Lorraine “Missy” King, sisters Bonnie, Frances and Dorothy and brother Willard W. “Bill” King. He is survived by son Greg King, Independence, MO; brothers Edgar King and wife Norma, Mission, KS; Bob King and wife Jo, St. Charles, MO; sister Marjorie O’Neill, Tucson, AZ and special friend Laura Kiff, North Kansas City, MO.
