Emery "Roger� Kinnaman
Roger Kinnaman, 84, of Independence, died June 3, 2006 at a local hospital. Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, at Carson-Speaks Chapel in Independence. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Mr. Kinnaman was born on August 27, 1921 in Lee�s Summit, Mo. the son of George and Daisy May (Scott) Kinnaman. Roger was a family man who enjoyed spending time with his family at their Lake home at Lake of the Ozarks. He enjoyed fishing, playing pool and golfing. He was a man who enjoyed humor and being a problem solver and handyman. In his retirement years he and his wife spent time at the Lake of the Ozarks and in Clearwater, Florida. Mr. Kinnaman was retired after 35 years with the Missouri Pacific Railroad where he had been a switch foreman. He was a member of the United Transportation Union #1403 and NARVE #95. He was also a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church and was a former member of St. Ann�s Parish. He served in the U.S. Army from December 1, 1942 to January 22, 1944. On August 27, 1942 he married Betty Jo Sterling in Liberty, Missouri. She survives of the home. He is also survived by two daughters, Claudia Payne and her husband Billie of Buckner, Vida Smith of Independence, a son, Roger Kinnaman and his wife Anne of Seattle, Washington; a sister, Betty Huntsucker of Independence; five grandsons; Brandon Payne, Chris Kinnaman, Gehrig Smith, Zach Kinnaman, Keaton Kinnaman and two granddaughters, Amber Kinnaman and Kayla Smith. Roger was predeceased by a son, Billy Kinnaman on March 17, 2001 and by a grandson, Dustin Payne on July 23, 1999.
