Erma Opal Kinnison (Hammons)

Erma Kinnison, 108 years, died Thursday, October 28, 2021, at Ignite Medical Resort St. Marys, Blue Springs, MO. She was born on June 17, 1913 a daughter of Juddie and Marie Vandevender Hammons of Mill Grove, MO., Mercer County. She attended school in Mercer County and was married to Floyd Kinnison on April 6, 1929 at Princeton, MO. They farmed in Mercer and Grundy counties until moving to Independence, MO in September 1978. She was a member of The First Christian Church in Independence, MO. She made her home with daughter, Shirley, until October 15, 2021.
Survivors include Children, Gordon Kinnison of Omaha, NE, Madalene Morgan of
Lee's Summit, MO , and Shirley Kinnison of Independence, MO. 5 Grandchildren Vicki Kinnison, Don Kinnison, Mike Kinnison, Steve Kelly, Phil Morgan, 6 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Granddaughter.
Preceded in death were her parents. husband Floyd, a daughter, Helen, her brother, Ronald (Inez), son-in-law, Robert Morgan, and daughter-in-law, Doris Kinnison and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 4, 2021 from 9-10:00am at First Christian Church of Independence. Her funeral service will begin at 10:00am. Burial will follow at 2:30pm at Resthaven Cemetery in Trenton, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer’s Association in Erma’s memory.
