Barbara Kirk

Barbara J. Kirk, 73, of Independence, MO peacefully passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at Kansas City Hospice House surrounded by her family. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 22, 2010 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 1-2:00 p.m. Burial in Greenton Cemetery in Odessa, MO. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice House. Barbara was born January 20, 1937 in Terre Haute, IN to George and Margaret (Sartain) Wells. She enjoyed living at The Fountains, meeting new friends, participating in activities, tours and the red hat society. Barbara’s life focused on her family and caring for them. Mrs. Kirk is survived by her sons Steven Kirk, Kevin Kirk and friend Janet; daughter Susan Skov and husband Steve; grandchildren Christopher, Cassandra, Justin, Alison; great-grandchildren Kenya, Madilyn, Jasmine, Noah and Wyatt. She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. James Kirk in ’94. The family extends their deepest thanks and appreciation to the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital and Kansas City Hospice House for the care they gave Barbara.
