Frances Carolyn “Carrie” Knight
Carrie Knight, 70, of Independence, MO passed away Thursday, October 15, 2009 at her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 19, 2009 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Visitation will be 6:30-8:00 p.m. Sunday, October 18, 2009 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington where the rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Graveside services 3:00 p.m. Monday at LP Union Cemetery in Fairfield, MO. Carrie was born May 31, 1939 in northeast Kansas City, MO to Boyd C. and Frances Violet (Dearinger) Shinn at the Conley Maternity Hospital. She was blessed with artistic talent and beauty, crowned Miss Oldsmobile for the 1956 Autorama show. Mrs. Knight graduated from Central High School in 1957 and had leading roles in the school plays and musicals. She sang in the Kansas City Philharmonic chorus. Carrie was active in the PTO at St. Mary’s and Holy Family schools during the early ‘80’s. Mrs. Knight is survived by her children Richard Stansell and wife Linda, Lucinda Haston and husband James, Walter Stansell and wife Traci, Alicia Smith; grandchildren Rick, Robert, Nicholas, Andrew, Danny, Torie-Beth, Rosemary, Katie, Margaret, Grace, Gabrielle and Alexander. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert E. Knight in ’97; and by her brother Michael B. Shin
