Janet E. Knox, 86, of Independence, passed away on May 5, 2006 at a local care center. A Memorial Service will be held for Mrs. Knox on Wednesday, May 10th at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Episcopal Church. She will be inurned in the Trinity Episcopal Church Columbarium.
Janet was born on December 19, 1919 in Independence, Missouri the daughter of Henry O. and May P. (Hinckley) Eyssell. She attended school in Independence graduating in 1937. She later attended the Texas State College for Women. While in Texas she was employed by the Dupont Company. On April 19, 1952 she married William Christy Knox and was a homemaker. She was widowed in 1967 and worked as a receptionist for the Board of Education in Independence. Mrs. Knox was a talented musician who sang and could play the piano by ear. She loved her family, being a mom, cutting her lawn, and fixing things around the house. When her daughter moved to the East Coast she enjoyed visiting and traveling with Mary and spent several vacations in Europe and England. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church for most of her life, joining in 1928. She was a volunteer at the church working in the office, singing in the choir, and was a member of the church Altar Guild. She was also a member of the Junior Service League. She loved people and they enjoyed her. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Knox of Arlington, Virginia; two brothers, Henry C. Eyssell of Overland Park, Ks. And Arnold F. Eyssell of Independence. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a by a sister Melinda Bullard. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Trinity Episcopal Church, 409 N.
