Helen Elizabeth Koch 97, Independence, Missouri, passed away February 1, 2020. Helen was born in California, Missouri to Marie and William Germeroth. She grew up in St Louis graduating from Roosevelt High School then Deaconess School of Nursing becoming a registered nurse. She worked at various hospitals.
Helen married her husband Rev Ralph Koch in 1944. Together they raised 2 daughters. She retired in 1980 from the Independence School District where she worked as a school nurse. Helen was an active member of St. Luke’s UCC, a member of Church Women United and P.E.O.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 61 years. She is survived by daughters Barbara (Phil), Kathryn (Bob), 4 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held at St. Luke’s UCC in Independence Friday, February 7. Visitation will be held from 10 am to 11 am with service following at 11:00.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be given to Blue Springs Terrace.
