Theodore Andrew “Ted” Kochanowicz, 73, passed away on August 10, 2016.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, Aug. 14, from 4-6pm, with funeral service at 10am Monday, both held at Timothy Lutheran Church, 425 NW R.D. Mize Rd. in Blue Springs. Burial with military honors will follow at MO State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO.
Contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice or Timothy Lutheran Church in his honor.
Ted was born on Nov. 10, 1942, in San Francisco, CA, to Ted and Anne (Armburst) Kochanowicz. He graduated from South High School, Omaha, NE, in the class of 1960. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, and served in the 101st Airborne Division. After 3 years of service, he was honorably discharged. Ted went to work as a switchman and conductor for Union Pacific Railroad, and retired in 1996. He married Kay Tomsu, a longtime family friend, on September 14, 2007. He loved to participate in cowboy action shooting competitions, and also enjoying being outdoors, watching TV, and reading. Ted had a soft spot for his dogs, particularly Rocky. He is loved and will be dearly missed.
Ted is survived by his wife, Kay; sons, Randy (Shannon) and Ron (Elaine) Kochanowicz; grandchildren, Eli and Logan Kochanowicz, Kailey and Dylan Clayton, and Daniel, Buckley, Riley, Genevieve, Joseph, and Mack Kochanowicz; siblings, Anne (Ken) Pederson, Sandy (Mark) Saner, Andy (Ana) Kochanowicz, David (Carol) Kochanowicz, and Larry Kochanowicz; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
