James Kohl, 80, Independence, MO passed away Dec. 1, 2017. Services will be 2 pm, Friday, Dec. 8 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055; interment at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Visitation will begin at 1 pm before the service at the chapel.
James was born Oct. 2, 1937 in San Pedro, CA. His family moved to Independence and he graduated from William Chrisman in the Class of 1955. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He retired from the Raytown Mid-Continent Public Library in 2005 after thirteen years of service. Previously he worked at the Law Enforcement Equipment Company for over ten years. He was a member of the Community of Christ Village Heights Congregation where he sang in the choir.
James is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years Margaret Kohl, of the home; sister Ann Stevenson, Lamoni, IA; nieces and nephews.
