Evelyn Dee Kolar, 87, Independence, MO passed away Thursday, November 14, 2013.
Evelyn was born February 20, 1926 in Pattonsburg, MO the daughter of Cedric and Ozena (Fordyce) Curtis. She moved to the Kansas City at the age of 18 and worked for a short time with Sears and Roebuck. She soon married Kenneth K. Kolar on September 4, 1949. Evelyn served as a Cub Scout den mother and enjoyed gardening, quilting, and traveling. She was known for her ability to bake pies and cakes and she had a great sense of humor. Evelyn especially loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include her loving husband, Kenneth Kolar; sons, Karl A. Kolar, and Larry W. Kolar and wife Julie; daughter, Karen Lencioni and husband Jim; grandchildren, David Kolar, Mike Kolar, Holly Pennell, Matthew Hidy, Kenny Kolar and Natalie Johnson; great grandchildren, Austin and Ty Johnson, Lauren, Emma and Henry Pennell; sister, Nina Patterson; brother, Victor Curtis; and numerous nieces, nephews, and family. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Wanda Clark, and Virginia Wingo; brother C.A. Curtis; and her parents.
Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Carson-Speaks Chapel; 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. A celebration of life will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice.
