Kenneth Karl Kolar, 86, Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2014.
Kenneth was born May 12, 1927 in Kansas City, MO the son of Thomas Roy and Mabel Marie (Henry) Kolar. He was a 1944 graduate of Northeast High School. Kenneth was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving in the pacific theater during WWII. He retired from Mid Continent Tool and Molding as vice president after 54 years. Kenneth enjoyed camping, traveling, fishing and hunting. He married Evelyn Curtis on September 4, 1949 she preceded him in death on November 14, 2013. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Kolar; and his parents.
Survivors include his sons, Karl A. Kolar, and Larry W. Kolar and wife Julie; daughter, Karen Lencioni and husband Jim; grandchildren, David Kolar, Mike Kolar, Holly Pennell, Matthew Hidy, Kenny Kolar and Natalie Kolar; great grandchildren, Austin and Ty Johnson, Lauren, Emma and Henry Pennell; brother, Thomas Kolar; and numerous nieces, nephews, and family.
Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Monday, February 17, 2014 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. A celebration of Kenneth’s life will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mt. Washington Cemetery with Military Honors.
