Betty Joan Kreissler-Davis (Dudley)

On the evening of January 26, 2021, our Loving, Companionate and Nurturing mother peacefully went to Heaven to be with Jesus, her Lord, our Dad and many other family and friends. Betty Joan (Dudley) Kreissler-Davis was born August 11, 1934 to Jack H. Dudley Sr. and Vena Marie (Nolte) Dudley in Kansas City MO at their home. Betty professed her faith and was baptized when she was 10 yrs old at Maywood Baptist Church. She attended Rockwood Elementary, Independence MO and graduated from William Chrisman High School in May of 1952. She continued to be in contact with her friends from Chrisman High School and her neighborhood for years to come. She had worked for Western Auto on the Independence Square as a bookkeeper and that’s where she met her future husband. On July 19, 1952, Betty and Robert Arthur Kreissler, also known as Bob, were united in marriage at Messiah Lutheran Church in Independence MO. When Bob entered the Army in 1953 and was stationed in New Mexico, they wrote letters daily to each other. In 1954 he was sent to Germany and they continued writing daily letters to each other.

In 1954 Betty & Bob started their family with a daughter Sharon. In 1956 they had a son Martin. In 1964 they completed their family with another son Kurt. Betty was a homemaker, friend and mother to all in the Farview Heights neighborhood! When all her children were finally in school she worked at Sandwich U on the Independence Square. She also helped take care of her Mother- in- Law in their home. She worked for Kay’s Fashions at Independence Center. Her final paying job was working at Osco (CVS) on 24 Highway as a cashier, bookkeeper and in charge of the Hallmark Card section of the store. When her mother needed extra care she quit working to help. During that time she wanted not only to help family, she wanted to help others. After her mother’s passing, Betty worked as a volunteer at Independence Regional Hospital. When Bob, was diagnosed in 1995 with a rare Cancer she took care of him until his death in July of 1996. Still wanting to help others she delivered food to those in need by delivering “Meals on Wheels”. Helping family and others was a valuable lesson she & Bob taught their children. In the fall of 1999 she met Harvey C. Davis at Englewood Café. They were married in Sept of 2000. She became Betty Davis!!

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bob Kreissler, her grandson Jacob Kreissler, her husband Harvey Davis, her brother Jack H. Dudley Jr. She is survived by her daughter Sharon (Robert) Marble-Blue Springs, son Martin (Yvette) Kreissler- Independence and son Kurt Kreissler – Sugar Creek. Grandchildren: Matthew (Adri) Marble- Blue Springs, Johannah Kreissler- Kansas City, Jared (Ta’Nia) Kreissler- Kansas City, KS, Danny (June) Ropar- KS, 9 great grandchildren, her sister-in-law Karen (Kreissler) Graham (Bob)- Columbia, MO, sister-in-law Anne (Davis) Mimms- Kentucky, sister-in-law Sue Dudley- St. Joseph, MO, and a host of other family and friends. Due to the Covid Pandemic the family is planning a celebration of life in August 2021.
