Virginia B. Kruse, 91 of Independence, MO passed away, Friday, August 23, 2013.
Cremation is planned with a memorial visitation to be held from 5 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Private inurnment will be held at a later date.
Virginia was born October 14, 1921 in Lexington, MO to Ernest L. and Gertrude I. (Fanolio) Shull. She was one of eleven children having 5 sisters and 5 brothers. Virginia spent her first 16 years on the family farm and moved with her family to Independence.
She was a hair stylist for over 50 years operating her own hair salon most of those years. Virginia never thought of her clients as customers, they were her friends and she loved her work. Dodie, as she was affectionately called, simply enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest.
Virginia is survived by; her son, Larry Kruse and his wife Charlotte; granddaughter, Lori Maguire and husband, Ted; three great grandchildren Claire, Amelia and Tate; a sister, Mildred Draskovich and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Charles Kruse; brothers, E.L., John, George, Herb and Bill Shull; sisters, Katherine Barber, Marge Costigan, Marion Costigan and Eleanor Motes.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made in her name to Notre Dame de Sion School, Advancement office, 3823 Locust St., Kansas City, MO 64109.
