James Kuhn

James P. “Jim” Kuhn, 90, of Indep. passed away Sun, Nov 4, 2018. Visitation to be held 1-2 p.m. with service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Wed, Nov 7, 2018 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial following service at Woodlawn Cemetery. Jim was born August 16, 1928 to Elmer and Ella (Stratton) Kuhn in Independence, MO. He was a graduate of William Chrisman High School in 1946. He married his loving wife, Dorothy (Hansen) in 1960 and the pair had two children. Jim worked at Alcatel-Lucent for 30 years as a building engineer. Jim enjoyed years of working with, and donating to, the Boy Scouts of America. He was an active member in the East 39th Street Community of Christ Church and a member of their building committee for over 40 years. Jim also enjoyed spending time with his family, doing yardwork, participating in boy scout summer camps, and attending estate sales with his wife. Jim is survived by his wife of 58-years, Dorothy Kuhn; a son, Stephen Kuhn; a daughter, Lisa Bartels; and five grandchildren, James D. Kuhn; Christopher Kuhn; Emily Bartels; Katherine Bartels; and Haley Gray. The family requests contributions be made to The Boy Scouts of America at www.scouting.org.
