Leslie Dewayne Kuhnert, 83, of Independence, MO, passed away on Thursday May 12, 2022.
A memorial visitation will be held from 1-2 pm on Friday, May 20, 2022 with a service following at 2pm, both at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E 39th St; Independence, MO 64055. Inurnment to follow at Sugar Creek Cemetery in Rushville, MO.
Dewayne was born on March 14, 1939 in Atchison, KS to Leslie and Georgia (Easter) Kuhnert. He graduated from De Kalb High School in De Kalb, MO and went on to attend The Electronic Institute of Kansas City. He married Dolores Douglass on September 19, 1964, in Kansas City, KS and together, they made a house a home. Dewayne proudly served in the United States Army before becoming an electronics technician at Honeywell for 40 years. He was a proud member of the Heart of America glass collectors and his hobbies included making jewelry, woodworking, and stained glass.
Dewayne is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dolores; son Troy Kuhnert, daughter Heather (Jon) Shawver; granddaughters, Krystin (Chris) Miller, Megan (James) McMurray, Elyssa Shawver, and Jana Shawver; and great-granddaughters Marle McMurray, Ava Miller and Maycee McMurray. He is also survived by three sisters; Lawania (Gary) McClurg, Ramona (Lanny) Frakes, and Marilyn (Larry) Ridgeley.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
