Norma Kuhnlein

Norma L. Kuhnlein, 87, of Independence, MO returned to the Lord on August 1, 2007 at Centerpoint Medical Center. A visitation will be held from 3-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 5, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel with a prayer service to take place at 4:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at St. Mark’s Catholic Church. Burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Raytown, MO. Norma was born on October 19, 1919 in Independence, MO to Anthony Blaine and Alice (Deyo) Sterrett. She graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1938. In 1940 she married her life’s love, Robert, with whom she had five children. Norma was devoted to the Catholic Church and volunteered in many capacities. She served on the PTA for St. Ann’s in Fairmount, Nativity of Mary in Independence and St. Agnes in Fairway. She was a past president of the Nativity Altar Society. At St. Mark’s Parish, she was a member of the Choir, served as Sacristan, and enjoyed helping provide funeral luncheons for families. She was a Camp Fire Girls leader and a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts. Norma was a member of the St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary and a charter member of the MCI Auxiliary, serving for 37 years. She enjoyed pinochle, bowling, bridge, playing the organ, working with ceramics and tole painting. She was happiest spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Robert F. Kuhnlein; one daughter, Gayle Davidson; and three brothers, Charles, Gene and Edward Sterrett. She is survived by three sons, Robert and wife Mary, James and wife Pandora, John and wife Deborah; one daughter, Linda Kuhnlein; one son-in-law, John Davidson; six grandchildren, Stephen and Robert Davidson, Laura, Amy, Ashley and Mark Kuhnlein; four great grandchildren, Patrick, Matthew, Katherine and Julia Davidson; brother, Richard and wife Jeanne Sterrett; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She will be dearly missed. Contributions may be made to the Robert F. Kuhnlein Scholarship Fund C/O Rockhurst University or the Truman Heartland Community Foundation C/O Gayle Davidson Memorial Fund.
