Judith “Judy” Laber, 81 of Independence, MO passed peacefully at her home Saturday, January 16, 2021. Cremation is planned and a Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 28, 2021 at St. Mark Catholic Church, 3736 S. Lee’s Summit Rd., Independence, MO 64055. There will be a rosary recited at 5:45 p.m., followed by a visitation from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at the church. All services will be held under current Covid-19 restrictions and masks are required and social distancing must be practiced. Additionally, due to Covid restrictions the family will be having a celebration of life for her on May 1, 2021 and the details will be announced as they become available. Inurnment will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to St. Mark Catholic Church or to a local animal shelter of the donor’s choice. Judy was born May 12, 1939 in Harper, KS to William R. and Garnett Mae (Yordon) Parker. Judy was a two-time breast cancer survivor, worked as a bookkeeper for several car dealerships throughout her career before she retired in 2002. She is survived by; 6 children, Dennis Michael “Mike” Laber, Ernie Laber (Leigh), Sheryl England (Sheldon), Larry Laber (Norma), Craig Laber (Michelle) and David Laber (Stacey); 14 grandchildren, Dustin Huber, Jessica Laber, Hannah Francis (Steve), Jennifer Laber (Dalton), Kelsey McCormick, Alie Annino (John), Andrew Laber (Brian), Lindsey Heath (Corey), Shelby Gregory (Brandon), Lauren Laber, Nathan England, Kennedy Laber, Kelsey and Kylie Waterworth and 8 great grandchildren, Jonah, Florence, Lukas, Zech, Elsie, George, Joseph and Louise; a sister-in-law, Karen and many loved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dennis Laber, her parents, her poppa, a sister, Joyce Gales and 3 brothers, Bill, Bob and Joe.
