Rachel Lee Lackey, 34, passed away on March 18, 2020.
Rachel was born on March 26, 1985, in Kansas City, MO, the only daughter of Jerry Lackey and Marie (LaBella) Lackey. She grew up in the Kansas City area and graduated from Don Bosco High School in the class of 2003. She was a dispatcher for Jade Alarm Company for approximately five years.
From an early age, she excelled in art and drawing, and picked up the hobby of crocheting later in life. She was a proud mother to two boys: Joseph, age 7, and Noah, age 6. She loved doing activities with them like gardening, going to the park, taking them to art centers like Kaleidoscope, and watching them at karate practice. Rachel appreciated any type of music that had a good beat, and more recently included country music in her playlist. She could often be found enjoying pizza, pasta, barbeque, or Chinese food with her family. She will be remembered and cherished as a mother and daughter with a quick wit, a beautiful smile, and a kind heart.
Survivors include her two sons, Joseph Leander Lackey and Noah Lee Lackey and their father, Gary Brushwood, Jr.; her parents, Jerry and Marie Lackey; her siblings, William J. “Bill” Thomas, Kristine M. McCoy, Ann Marie Casey, and Cynthia “Cindy” Wharton; and aunts & uncles, Larry Lackey (wife Annette), Sharon Smith (husband Zane), Eddie Lackey (wife Trish), and Brenda Willett.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Billy Ray and Esta Lee Lackey, and Anthony and Glenna LaBella.
Memorial services will take place at a later date. In Rachel’s honor, contributions are suggested to Kansas City Pet Project.
