Louis “Luigi” Lamendola, 83, passed away on July 4, 2017.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 8, from 12-2pm, with funeral service at 2pm, both at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St. Burial will take place at Floral Hills East Memorial Gardens.
Contributions may be made to Vesper Hall or American Diabetes Association in his honor.
Luigi was born on July 23, 1933, in Cane Hill, Arkansas. He grew up in the North End of Kansas City, and worked as a furnace electrician for Armco Steel for many years. He was a proud resident of Blue Springs for the past 20 years, and was very civically minded; he logged over 8000 volunteer hours at Vesper Hall, and was awarded “Citizen of the Year” and the “Civic Leadership Award” by the city. He had an infectious personality, always had a quick come-back, and could strike up a conversation with anyone. He was a sweet, loving father and will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Patricia; his former wife, Mary; his children, Gloria (Frank) Gautieri, Ronnie (Gayle) Lamendola, Steven Hendrickson, Ronald (Suzie) Hendrickson, Amy Johnson, and Laura (Geno) Thornquist; and numerous loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Charlie, Anna, and James.
