Phyllis Langdon

Phyllis Hendrickson Langdon of Kansas City, Missouri died Thursday, March 22nd. She was born in Greenwood, Missouri on December 23, 1932 to parents Claude W. and Irene P. Bates Hendrickson and was the twin sister to Lois Heath. After graduating from Northeast Sr. High School, she married H. George Eichenberger, Jr, with whom she had two daughters, Debbie and Cheryl. She was a member of Fairmount Christian Church, being baptized there in 1944, a member of the Wedding Ring Class, the CWF, and choir. She was a Red Hat Girl and was in the Northeast Alumni Association, class of 1951. She enjoyed reading, sewing, fishing, and her butterflies. She especially loved and enjoyed her family here and her Arkansas and Memphis family. For almost 10 years she worked at Seaboard Allied Milling Co and in 1971 she married Clinton Earl Langdon, She and Clint lived in Independence, West Memphis Arkansas, Marietta Georgia, and Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was a secretary at Rosewood United Methodist Church, Southern Auto Parts, and for Robert Cox at Cox Hotels. During her marriage to Clint, they were members of Decatur Trinity Christian Church, The First Christian Church, and Hickory Valley Christian Church. It was at Hickory Valley where she and Clint really grew in the work of the Lord and the members were an important part of their life. Clint died of cancer in 1991 in West Memphis Arkansas. Phyllis moved back to Independence and lived with her mother and worked at the Jackson County Prosecutor's office, Child Support Division. She retired in 1998 to stay home and take care of her Mother who died in 2000. After moving to the Cottages of KC East, she worked part-time at Hy-Vee at 40 and Noland, having fun at work and with the cottage ladies. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Lloyd Keith Hendrickson, Sr, grandson, Barry Eugene Langdon, and son-in-law, L. Andrew Davis. She leaves two daughters, Deborah Kay Kaylor (Jerry), and Cheryl Ann Davis, stepson Clinton Eugene Langdon (Mickey), grandchildren, Bryan Davis, Dana Davis (Tony), Jennifer Scott (Joel), AFS granddaughter, Eki Lau, Matthew Kaylor (Stefanie), Amanda Forlow (Michael), and Jeri Leigh Kaylor, six great-grandchildren, Kaela and Jordan Scott, Morgan Goss, Jaxon and Jacee Kaylor, Hanah and Alison Forlow, twin sister, Lois Heath, sister-in-law Alice Hendrickson, nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends and special friend Dan Coulter. A memorial visitation will take place from 6-8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 26, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the chapel, followed by a procession and inurnment service at Floral Hills Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Fairmount Christian Church Food Pantry, 641 S. Ash, Independence, MO 64053, or the American Cancer Society. The family would like to thank Dr. Larry Rosen, Midwest Cancer Care and Crossroads Hospice for the care they provided to their mother.
