Robert Clinton LaRoe, 87, of Raymore, formerly of Independence, passed away, Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at Foxwood Springs Living Center. Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 26, 2004 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m., until service time on Thursday at the chapel. Robert was born, April 26, 1917 in Mansfield, MA to Alfred C. and Marion (Lyons) LaRoe. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Radio Technician in WWII. He worked as a instrument technician. at the Amoco refinery for 38 years retiring in 1984. He was very involved in the First Christian Church of Independence, where he held several offices in the church leadership and taught the Faithful Followers adult Sunday school class for 38 years. He was a scoutmaster for troop #229 at the church. He was married to Maxine Marsh on April 30, 1945. She survives of the home. Other survivors include; two sons, Ross Marsh LaRoe of Granville, OH, and Robert John LaRoe of Kansas City, MO; a sister, Jean LaRoe Prince of Miami, FL; and a grandson, Robert Steven Marsh LaRoe of Los Angeles, CA. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
