Betty Ann Lasswell, 81, of Independence, MO passed away December 19, 2010 at Rosewood Health Center. A visitation will be held from 1-2:00 p.m., followed by a 2:00 p.m. service on Wednesday, December 22, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington, Independence, MO 64052. A graveside service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, at Rosehill Cemetery, Lamoni, Iowa. Contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation. Betty was born November 10, 1929 in Harrison County, MO to Wayne Wilbur and Crystal Mina (Haskins) Lasswell. She was preceded in death by her parents; and grandparents, George and Carrie Lasswell and Mr. and Mrs. E.E. Haskins. In 2003, she was baptized into the Community of Christ Church. She was a member of Kappa Delta Kappa, as well as the Knife and Fork Club. Her interests included shopping, her car, she loved dancing (took Arthur Murry dancing lessons), organ lessons, family reunions, travel, visiting families and friends and frequent meals at Englewood Café. She is survived by her brotherly Don Lasswell and wife Myrna, Lee’s Summit, MO and family; her dearest sisterly friend, neighbor and teacher companion, Etta Jane Asher and daughter Donna, Independence, MO; first cousins, Darrell (Carol) Wilcoxson, Lamoni, Iowa, Bob (Dixie) Wilcoxson, Eagleville, MO, Roger (Wilma)Wilcoxson, Jackson, MO, Celesta (Paul) Taylor, Carrolton, MO; lifetime school friend, Don “Buster” Halloway, Woodbine, Iowa; and many other cousins, friends and neighbors.
