Floyd Latimer, 82, of Grain Valley, MO passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018. A visitation will be held from 9-10am on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St, Independence, MO, 64055. A service will follow at 10am. He will be laid to rest at Blue Springs Cemetery.
Floyd was born on April 23, 1935 in Marshfield, MO to Owen and Avis (Dudley) Latimer. After high school he began work in the construction business at Sharp Brothers Contracting. He retired in 2009 from Walton Construction as Senior Superintendent. Over the years he helped develop many iconic landmarks in the Kansas City area including several multiplex theaters, Lipton Tea, Best Buy, Hall’s Department Store, Zona Rosa, and Arrowhead and Kauffman Stadiums. After retirement, Floyd stayed busy exercising 6 times a week and watching NASCAR. His favorite thing was getting together with all of his family.
He will be remembered by his daughter Brenda Berger and husband Dennis of Blue Springs, MO; granddaughter Denise Berger of Kansas City, MO; great-granddaughter Amaya Adams plus several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Lloyd Latimer, and wife Margarett.
