Georgia Latimer, 87, of Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017 after a very brief battle with cancer. A visitation will be held from 9-11am Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St, Independence, MO, 64055. A service will follow at 11am at the chapel. Interment will take place at Mound Grove Cemetery.
Georgia was born on December 11, 1930 in Kingsville, MO to Floyd and Kay (Michael) Sutherland. On June 8, 1947 she married Charles Latimer. Together they raised 4 children Dave, Susie, Rob and Robin. She was most proud to be a housewife and mother. She worked various jobs, including owning Latimer Hardware. In her spare time she loved to crochet, cook, color, read, and write in her journal. She had excellent penmanship. Georgia really enjoyed the time she shared with her family. In recent years you could find her at the Blue Springs YMCA taking water classes and socializing with her friends. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society.
Georgia will be remembered by her daughter Robin Chapman and husband Mark of Grain Valley, MO, daughter Cheryl “Susie” Niemann and husband Kelly of Appleton City, MO; sister Linda Flater and husband Larry of Independence, MO; grandchildren Megan Mathews (Brett), Rob Chapman (Ashley), Mandy Chapman, Chris Latimer (Rosie), Angie Russell (Brandon), Brandon Latimer (Amy), Erin Niemann, Jake Niemann and Katie Stempel; great-grandchildren Zoey and Hunter Chapman, Truman and Ava Mathews, Payton, Caydon, and Ashton Russell, Logan and Lavender Stempel; plus many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her brother Jack Sutherland, husband Charlie Latimer, sister Maxine Dixon, brother Duke Sutherland, sons David Latimer and Rob Latimer.
