Charles S. “Chuck” “Bud” Lauffer, 75 of Independence, MO passed away Sunday morning at North Care Hospice. Services will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 7, 2012 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Burial will follow in Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 7 to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at the chapel. Bud was born April 11, 1937 in Warsaw, MO to Sennett Ryan and Bonnie Beatrice (Marriott) Lauffer. He graduated from public schools and received bachelors in engineering from UMKC. He was a member of the Boilermaker’s Union Local #83 in Kansas City from 1957 until his retirement in 2005. He enjoyed camping with his family, square dancing (Silver Dollar Squares), was a loyal KC Royals, KC Chiefs and MU fan and most of all enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He proudly served in the US Army. He was a member of the Susquehanna Baptist Church and had served many years with the Compassionate Friends organization. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Bessie of the home; 2 daughters, Kathy Lauffer Tillman and husband Matt and Tammy Lauffer all of Independence, MO; a granddaughter, Emily Rose Tillman; a grandson, Zachary Mark Tillman; 3 brothers, Donnie Lauffer and wife Vicki of Independence, MO, Harold Lauffer of Lawson, MO and Hank Lauffer of Florida; a sister, Sue Davis of Independence, MO; special friends, Kathie and Rick Dalzell of Seattle, WA and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Charles “Mark” Lauffer, a sister, Patricia Easterday and a brother, Larry Lauffer.
