Alice M. Lay, 75, of Napoleon, MO passed away Monday, February 2, 2004 while wintering in Mission, Texas. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Burial will be at Greenton Cemetery, Odessa, MO. Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the chapel. Alice was born on May 28, 1928 in Summersville, MO to William and Minnie Faye Mitchell. On November 7, 1946 she was united in marriage to Leonard D. Lay of Mt. View, MO. To this union, three daughters were born; Pamela, Paula and Penny. Alice was a long time member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Independence and currently a member of the First Baptist Church of Bates City. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, gardening and her flowers. She also enjoyed being Winter Texans with Leonard and summering in Wyoming. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant twin brothers; brothers, Elmer, Earl and Clyde Mitchell; sisters, Dollie Gobble and Goldie Laird; brothers-in-law, John Wilcox, Roy Terrill and Donald Stuart. Alice is survived by her husband of 57 years, Leonard, of the home; three daughters and son-in-laws; Pamela and Rick Charles of Blue Springs, MO, Paula and Lyle Cantrell of Plato, MO and Penny and Andy Collins of Independence, MO; three sisters, Stella Wilcox, Farmington, MO, Lois Terrill of Arnold, MO and Dorothea Stuart of Tenino, WA; grandchildren, Patrick and Len Charles, Clifton, Caylen, Caleb Cantrell, Julie Cantrell Parish and Ian and Lane Collins.
