William Kenneth Layman, 89, of Blue Springs, MO peacefully passed away Monday, July 22, 2013 at his home.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 25, 2013 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service starting at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Summit Assembly Church, PO Box 1329, Lee’s Summit, MO 64063. Burial with full military honors in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens.
William Kenneth was born March 30, 1924 in St. Joseph, MO to Claude and Myrtle Layman. Mr. Layman is survived by his daughters Sandra Layman, Beverly Parton and husband Tom, Marilyn Waterman and husband Cliff; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; one sister; one brother; and by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Hazel Layman; his daughter & son-n-law Glenna & Dean Rooffener; his great-grandson Caleb Colmenares. Mr. Layman was a United States Navy veteran and was honorably discharged on January 11, 1946.
