John Charles Lazenby of Blue Springs MO, a great man who loved his Kansas City Chiefs almost as much as his kids and grandkids, passed away unexpectedly on August 6, 2021. He was 52 years old. John was born on July 31, 1969 in Independence, Missouri, to Stanley and Susan Lazenby. He graduated from Davenport Central High School in the class of 1987. He was an amazing father, and grandfather. Even though he worked odd hours for most of his life, John always made his children and grandchildren his number one priority. John was stubborn but one of the nicest people you would ever meet. He had a witty sense of humor and considered himself quite the jokester. He loved his motorcycle and taking trips with his brother. As calm and reserved as he was, John was always the voice of reason and someone you could always count on for good advice. For the last 7 years, he worked as a logistics manager for Ryder Integrated Logistics. He enjoyed Mexican food and trying all the bbq joints in town to see which was the best. Despite all the years of disappointment John always enjoyed watching the Chiefs play, especially when he had the chance to tailgate with his sons. Luckily, he did get to see his Chiefs win the Superbowl at least once. He will always be remembered as a helpful, selfless man, who was always friendly and courteous to everyone. He will be deeply missed by many. He is survived by his children, Blayne Lazenby, Kadia (Eduardo) Lemus, Keegan Lazenby, and Addison Lazenby; grandchildren, Grayson and Thiago, and siblings, Darryn Meshau, Dawn Dal Porto, Danielle Lazenby, and Lisa (Erin) Donovan. He was preceded in death by his mother, Susan Lazenby, and grandparents, Wesley and Ruth Lazenby, and Helen and Leland Kinnaird.
A memorial service to honor John will be held on Wednesday, August 18, at 3:00 p.m., with a visitation to follow, from 5-7:00 p.m., both at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th. St. in Independence, MO. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.speakschapel.com (Arrangements: Speaks Suburban Chapel (816) 373-3600)
