Charles V. Leath, 80, Oak Grove, Mo., died May 7, 2004, at his home as the result of an automobile accident after struggling many months. Graveside services will be 10 am, Monday, May 10, 2004, at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 6 - 8 pm, Sunday at Speaks Suburban Chapel. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Sunshine Center Pre-school, 607 W. Lexington, Indep., MO 64050. Charles served in the U.S. Navy during WW II on the USS Charrette. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Masonic Lodge and Independence Music Club. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Blue Springs, MO. He retired from the Burlington-Northern Frisco Railroad in 1985. He was especially proud of the time he spent working for the "Frisco� Railroad during his career. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Belva Leath, and daughter, Danice Maples. He is survived by his loving wife, Becky, of the home; daughter, Penny Owen, K.C., MO; sister, Mary Tuter and husband, Leroy, Indep., MO; son, Doug Jones and wife, Phyllis, Oak Grove, MO; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He will be missed by his beloved pet, Rosco. Charles loved his family and his many friends dearly. He will be deeply missed.
