Ernie Ledsworth, a longtime resident of Independence, passed away peacefully with his wife, LaDora, children Linda Booth, Gary Ledsworth, and Jan Magee gathered around his bed, sharing their love and encouraging him to go home to the Lord. Ernie was born on June 29, 1921, in Port Huron, Michigan. He and LaDora Timm were married on Friday, September 13, 1946, and celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary this past September. They have seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Ordained a minister in 1946, Ernie served in the Community of Christ for 68 years, bringing Christ’s love to many people. He also served 10 years as a volunteer for the Red Cross disaster team, 3 years with Victims Assistant program with Jackson County Prosecutor’s office, and 15 years as a Jackson County Election Judge. A Celebration of Ernie’s Life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 10:00 a.m., at the Stone Church, 1012 W Lexington, Independence.
