VIRGIL ROBERT LEIBOLD
Virgil Robert Leibold, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in Independence, Missouri, surrounded by family, on the morning of January 9th, 2021. He was 88.
After serving in the army with a final rank of corporal, Virgil earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, and a master's degree from Central Missouri State University. He dedicated four decades to a career in education at Northwest High School and Van Horn High School.
Virgil had a life-long love of music, singing in several movies with the St. Luke's Choristers in California, and later singing Handel’s Messiah in Kansas City. He was also a loyal fan of Kansas City sports and worked at the Royals Stadium in both security and tickets.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Eileen Leibold; daughter Shellie (Tim) Bielawski; son Shannon Leibold; step-sons Kevin (Felice) Prine, Sebastian Penraeth, and Jeffery (Kaori) Prine; granddaughters Courtney (Rick) Yablonski and Victoria; grandsons Eric and Sean; step-grandsons Ashden and Ryu; step-granddaughters Avery and Tabitha; three great grandchildren, and many beloved family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Bethy Leibold, sister, June Murphy and step-mother, Lillian Leibold
No memorial service will be held.
