Leigh Ann “L A” Little (Benkovich), 57, departed this world on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at her home in Independence, Missouri.
Leigh Ann was born in Independence, Missouri on Friday, January 28, 1967 to Michael A. Benkovich Jr. and Carol Ann Hudgens Benkovich.
She attended Park Hill High until 1984, later getting her G.E.D. She went on to write and compile historical books with stories about the towns she grew up in; and the trial of the son of the alleged train bandit Jesse E. James Jr. Leigh Ann was a published author, ran the news outlet Independence Gazette (formerly known as Inter-City News) and wrote four books as well as several online blogs. She was an avid web designer, protest organizer and political consultant. Leigh Ann was a proud, devoted mother and homeschooled her children. She was also a devout Judeo-Christian and loved being a servant of God.
She is predeceased by her four grandparents; her sister, Molly Beth Benkovich; nephew, Anthony Steven Benkovich; niece, Sklyar Ann Benkovich; aunt, Patricia George and uncle, Grover Cooper; and special friend David Marshall.
Leigh Ann is survived by both of her parents, sons, Daniel Guajardo, Derek Benkovich and Raymond Little; daughter, Emily Rose Little; daughter-in-law, Monique Barnett; grandchildren Azelle Guajardo and Elijah Barnett; brother, Michael Benkovich III; brother-in-law, Michael Little; nephews, Joshua Hukill, Jeremy Walters, Jacob Robertson, Brett Benkovich, Jeremy Little and Seth Little; nieces, Cara Hukill and Elizabeth Blizzard; uncles, Algon George and Terry Brown; aunts, Euva Cooper and Junie Brown; husband (separated), Eric Little and many loving cousins and a world of friends who will truly miss her.
