Vera Lemonds

Vera M. Lemonds, 70, of Independence, MO passed away Saturday August 30, 2003 at Medical Center of Independence. Visitation will be 7-9:00 pm Tuesday September 2, 2003 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Services will be 1:30 pm Wednesday September 3, 2003 at the chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, Eastern Jackson County, 1700 S. Lake Dr. Independence, MO 64055. Vera was born March 9, 1933 in Hayti, MO to Edward Wesley and Lola Grace (Jones) Watts. Vera was an active member of Coventry Estates Baptist Church for many years. She taught 6th grade at Ott Elementary School for 21 years before retiring in 1992. Mrs. Lemonds is survived by her husband Carl E. Lemonds Sr., son Carl E. Lemonds Jr. and wife Charlene of Austin, TX, daughter Carleen Lee and husband Harlan of Huntsville, TX, a brother Charles Watts and wife Bonnie of Independence, MO a sister Frances Cook of Caruthersville, MO and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. The family extends a special thanks to loving caregivers Deverine Hostetler and Roberta Wolford.
