Lois Rae (Anderson) Leverson was born in Lamoni, Iowa on July 5, 1927, the daughter of Earl E. and Florence (Elefson) Anderson. She passed from this life on February 16, 2014 in White Oak Living Center in Independence, MO after a brief illness. Rae spent her early years in Lamoni, IA and graduated from the Lamoni High School in 1944. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Following high school, Rae attended Graceland College in Lamoni. She was married to Vernon Leverson in 1947. Rae spent over forty years as a general claims adjustor for Preferred Risk Mutual in Des Moines, IA, but her life-long interest was interior design. The world of art was ever a field of meaning and inspiration for Rae and she spent many satisfying hours in creative pursuits in that field. Rae was an animal lover. She always recalled fondly each pet that had shared her home and her loving care. She will be remembered for her warm generosity and her quick wit and lively sense of humor. She was preceded in death by her mother and father and by her brother, Glen E. Anderson. Survivors include many cousins and friends. The family would like to express appreciation to the staff of White Oaks Living Center, to GC Hospice and to Home Instead Senior Care for the gracious and skillful care provided during Rae’s declining days. Her caregivers made this remark as a tribute to Rae. “She was an amazing woman and made an impact on our lives as we cared for her.” If we could speak to her today, we would tell her what a hole has been left in our hearts now that she is no longer with us. Visitation will be at Speaks Suburban Funeral Chapel at 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055 on Wednesday, February 19 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Graveside services will be conducted by Elders Gary Hoover and Dwight Elefson at Rose Hill Cemetery in Lamoni, IA., at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2014.
