Irene M. Lewis, 89, of Sugar Creek, MO passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2014. A visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Friday, March 14, at Carson Speaks Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m. Friday. Burial will be at Mound Grove Cemetery.
Irene was born February 2, 1925 in Sugar Creek, MO to Pete and Zora (Green) Lonzo as one of four girls. She grew up knowing her husband, Clyde Lewis, who she married July 23, 1947. Together they raised two children. Irene worked as a bookkeeper at Singer Sewing Machine for many years, finishing her career at Adam and Eve College of Cosmetology, and was also a devoted homemaker. In her heart she was always a member of the RLDS Church where she played piano and sang in the Sugar Creek Congregation’s choir. Irene is remembered as unconditionally loving, caring, and devoted to her family.
Irene is survived by daughter, Cindy Barnes (Vince Nickerson) of Sugar Creek, MO; son, Stan Lewis (Kelly Fox) of Sibley, MO; grandchildren, Desi Silva (Kim) of Independence, MO; Shawn Lewis (Andrea) and Tony Lewis (Brandi) all of Sibley, MO; great grandchildren, Brandon, Kaylynn, Ryan, and Dylan; and sister, Cece Shinabargar of Oak Grove, MO.
